ON GIRL drowned by Bertold Brecht

Once is not custom, I would publish here one of my translations of poems by writers of German language, in this case, Bertolt Brecht, whose work I particularly appreciate. The poem in question, "Vom Mädchen ertrunkenen" was chosen because it is a poem that never left me indifferent, or by the opposition of his images - which candor and grotesque mingle in a context that is both pathetic and edifying - or by choosing the theme, apparently trivial, but the genius of Brecht was able to create a poem steeped in emotion and restraint of rare lucidity.

HOV Drowned girl
Bertolt Brecht

track the opal of the sky very strange
As if he had to appease the dead body.

Depuis les grands Ruisseaux jusqu'aux Fleuves

But soon he was clear, as if it still existed
For morning and evening.

When her pale body rots in the water,
It turns out (very slowly) God forgot gradually
First the face, then hands, and end the hair.
And then it becomes carrion into rivers filled with corpses.

CAN NOT TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU

"Can not Take My Eyes Off You" by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio and was a huge success in the voice of Frankie Valli in 1967. This song brings me to my old Saturday night dances in those years, and were an opportunity to meet peers and especially girls. It reminds me a lot of things, feelings of a time when I thought le Paradis se trouvait juste au coin de la rue...

En voici les parolles chantés dans la version de Frankie Vallie et The Four Seasons de 1967:

You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you
You feel like heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you

Pardon the way that I stare
There's nothing else to compare
The sight of you makes me weak
There are no words left to speak
So if you feel like I feel
Please let me know that it's real
You're just to good to be true
Can't take My Eyes Off of You

I love you baby, and if it's quite alright I need you baby
to warm The Lonely Nights
I love you baby, trust in me when I say Oh
pretty baby, do not bring me down I pray Oh pretty baby
, Now That I've Found You
Let me love you baby, let me love you
